Count the Cost
Scripture tells us in Luke 14 to count the cost of signing up to be on God's team, to be His disciple, to follow Him.It's costly. The cost is actually equated to hating your mother and father and spouse and children. Coutning the cost of following Christ means realizing that it may feel like the highest possible price for you relationally. The Dockrey family is feeling that cost this week and it's hard. We have decided to say yes to His leadership and He has provided joy in that obedience. We know that we will watch Him unfold a beatiful picture of His glory throughout this process. We have counted the cost, but we are also feeling the weight of that cost during this season.Covenant Christian School has been our home for the last 8 years, even though it seems like it's been our home for forever. That place and the many precious faces within have been a constant for us - our family away from our own. They have loved us and supported us, laughed and cried with us, and partnered with us to raise our boys and train them up as an army of God. We will forever hold these days close to our hearts and will cherish the many relationships that have blossomed in our time there. But, we are also grieving these final days walking the halls of this place with these people that we dearly love.Carolina Creek Christian Camps started their annual staff training for Summer 2019 yesterday. It's our favorite part of the year - the energy and the unity of working together to hold open the door for our campers to know and experience the love of Christ is indescribably awesome. Having to take a step back from that and feel like you're semi a part of it but semi watching from the outside is difficult. The Bible shows us so many pictures of what it looks like to abandon all and run hard after Him - we sometimes see that as a metaphorical abandonment, but sometimes it is a literal abandonment of everything you know and hold dear (because it's all His anyway) in order to do the thing that He has called you to.But we gladly continue to walk in obedience, because it IS for His glory alone. It's why we exist and what we've been created to do. His Name and His Renown truly are the desire of our souls. So, we will continue to say yes to Him each step of the way, but feel free to pray for our human hearts in that process. ;) P.S. Don't forget to be praying about how God might be calling YOU and your family on this journey with us! We are currently in the support raising phase so that we can get to the field - we would love to tell you more about it - just reach out to us here. LOVE YOU!
