Alles Wird Gut!

Satan is real, y'all. He hides in the shadows and drowns our culture in confusion and fear, anger and hopelessness.

We all see it. I don't think anyone would disagree. But sometimes I think we fail to know how to respond.

Sometime it's as if we've just become so used to it. We think if we let ourselves dwell on the reality of his presence, dark clouds would loom over us constantly. So, in essence, we just choose to ignore it.

Sometimes I think we respond to the evil that he stirs up by becoming defensive and resolute to stop him in his tracks, no matter how unloving or unkind we might end up being to those around us.

And sometimes I think we allow his schemes to overwhelm us and get us down, causing depression and a lack of hope.

Today, in this world we live in, it sure feels like Satan wins a lot. And I find myself responding in each of these ways all too often.

Since sometime in March, after this pandemic had become a reality in my part of the world, the German culture reminded me of the hope that we have in Christ - even in the midst of crazy pandemics and unbelievable evil.

Alles wird Gut! - translated, All will be Okay!

These banners are still hung outside of almost all German shops, restaurants, and places of business. These pictures are all within a 30 second walk from my front door.

The day I saw these banners at store after store after store was overwhelming, to say the least. They didn't protest or throw their arms up in disgust or hide in fear. Instead, they stood and proclaimed together that all will be well.

I don't know where a hope like this can come from outside of the hope that we have in Jesus Christ. How convicting it is for a secular culture to stand with hope in a more powerful way than I find myself standing sometimes.

Ephesians 6 tells us to "be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devils schemes."

As believers in this hope, we are called to stand against the evil in this world. But, we're not called to stand alone and we're not called to stand in anything but His love - we stand in His mighty power. It may seem like Satan wins sometimes, but God has already won the war.

John 16:33 tells us that in Him we will have peace because He has already overcome the world.

I want to walk in THIS hope. It's not an empty hope. Our God is so much bigger than the messes going on around us.

Thank you to the many people on our "team" who sacrifice in order to allow us to be in this place at this specific time to lead others to know this powerful hope.

As many of you know, we live and serve at Black Forest Academy as missionaries, living on support. We will be traveling back to Texas this summer to continue raising a support deficit that we have. We still need about $2100/month in committed financial supporters. We'd love to set up a time to chat with you about this if you're interested or you can click HERE to set up a commitment.

Alles wird gut! I know that all will be well for TeamDockrey in this time of support raising. We are confident that God has called us to this place. We are overwhelmed by the generosity and sacrifice that many of you have already made and continue to make in order for us to be here. It's humbling and exciting and awesome all at the same time.

And Alles wird gut in this world that we live in, because He still sits on His throne and we will choose to place our trust in Him.
