COVID, COVID, GO AWAY
How many of us have prayed for this crazy pandemic to just go away (and not “come again another day”)? I know we definitely have. At the same time, we certainly don’t want to miss whatever God is up to in this season. He still sits on His throne. He’s still in complete control. So, what is He up to?
I’m not even going to begin to know the answer to that question. But, in a book I’ve been reading lately by Jamie Ivey called “You be You,” she talks about being who God called YOU to be in the very place and in the very time that He called you to be there. We’ve been gently reminded in this season that He still gifted us in ways that are to be used for His glory. He still opens doors for His gospel message to go forth. He still desires to know us deeply and grow us into the likeness of His Son. Our job is to be obedient and faithful, even in the midst of a global pandemic (when does it quit being labeled a pandemic, btw? just wondering), even in the midst of a crazy political climate (for my friends in the great United States), even when we can’t even begin to understand the situations we seem to find ourselves in.
COVID has certainly changed the way we do things - and I, for one, would very much like for some of those changes to not be permanent (namely, mask wearing). But, how sweet it is to join forces with my brothers and sisters in Christ and continue this ministry of empowering God’s global mission, by loving on and investing in missionary kids - even when we have to daily change the way we do things and follow whatever new guidelines are handed down. COVID has made it frustrating and difficult, at times for sure but we’re unified. We cling to the calling God has placed on our lives to be here in this place at this specific time, because we know He is still God and He is good.
So, we will mask up when we go outside (except for Magnolia, since she’s under 6 years old — any Dash’s “conveniently falls off frequently):
And, we will also gladly continue to serve in this place (this pic is the BFA High School volleyball teams after their last game - against each other, because all of the other schools began cancelling with the increased infection rates in the area):
